Happy 3rd Birthday to the Blog

Welcome back to THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM! As you can guess, today its the third birthday of this very blog. Woohoo! While I would like to write something nice, I'm about to enter stage 6 load shedding, which means I'll have the power on for only two more hours of the day. Not woohoo. Don't worry about my Duke Nukem series, it is still continuing (just need to finish up the next post), but I am currently working on another game-related project which I hope to announce soon. Talking about Duke, seeing as though he is my current topic of discussion, he's the star of this year's birthday poster.

I also have to post about my recent charity shop hunt, but no time for that, the power will be out in 5 minutes. I would like to talk more, but I have to get going. Well, that's a wrap on THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM!

Duke Nukem Classics Collection on ZOOM Platform

Today, ZOOM Platform celebrates their 8th birthday, and what better way to celebrate it than with Duke Nukem. Welcome back to THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM, where I will be discussing a short history of what can be known as the “Duke Nukem Classics Collection”. In case you’re wondering, no, I’m not sponsored by ZOOM Platform, I just really like their site and have already bought quite a collection of games from them. To start things off, let’s go all the way back to 1991, to the release of Duke Nukem / Duke Nukum.

Apogee Software, at the time known for publishing id Software’s Commander Keen in Invasion of the Vorticons, released the first Duke Nukem game, a side-scrolling platformer in July of 1991. The story, set in 1997 (one of the only clear dates in the franchise), centres on Duke Nukem’s quest to take down the evil Dr Proton, who has built an army of Techbots and taken over Shrapnel City in Los Angeles. Over three episodes, Shrapnel City, Mission: Moonbase, and Trapped in the Future!, Duke Nukem defeats Dr Proton and saves the day. The 2.0 release of the game was renamed “Duke Nukum”, as Apogee were afraid of legal concerns due to a character in the animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers being named Duke Nukem. However, the name was in fact not registered, so Apogee registered it for future titles. Duke Nukem was originally available on Steam and GOG (in a pack with Duke Nukem II), before being delisted in 2015. It was also included in The Duke Nukem Platformer Pack on Steam.

Duke Nukem was followed by a sequel, Duke Nukem II, in 1993. Taking a place soon after Duke Nukem, Duke has now written a book, Why I’m So Great, but gets captured by aliens (the Rigelatins) while promoting it. Duke defeats the aliens and escapes their base in a Skycar, on his way back to Earth. It contains four unnamed episodes, and sports Duke’s new look, with a red vest and metal clamps, a step up from his former pink clothing. Duke Nukem II released a Game Boy Color port, titled Duke Nukem, in 1999, changing some aspects of the story and gameplay, and a 20th Anniversary iOS remaster in 2013. The game was formerly available on Steam and GOG (in the Duke Nukem I+II Pack) and was included in The Duke Nukem Platformer Pack on Steam, before the Great Delisting of 2015.

Duke Nukem II’s 1996 sequel, Duke Nukem 3D, changed up the formula. While the first two games were side-scrolling platformers, Duke Nukem 3D was the series’ first step into First-Person Shooter territory, which the series is most well-known for today, thanks to Ken Silverman’s Build Engine. In December, 1996, 3D received the Plutonium PAK, an update available to the game that added a fourth episode on top of L.A. Meltdown, Lunar Apocalypse, and Shrapnel City, entitled The Birth. The Birth was also available in the Atomic Edition of Duke Nukem 3D. 3D also received tons of unofficial expansions, like its competitor Doom, as well as official ones. While GOG’s version included only the base game and the Plutonium PAK, the Steam version included GOG’s content, as well as the three major expansions, Duke it Out in D.C., Duke Caribbean: Life’s a Beach, and: Duke Nuclear Winter, along with the shovelware expansion Duke!ZONE II. Both of these were delisted in 2015. The game received many ports of over time, such as a PlayStation port (with content available unofficially for the PC version), a Nintendo 64 port (compatible with the Rednukem source port) and more. Duke Nukem 3D also received two new PC versions, Megaton Edition and 20th Anniversary World Tour.

Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition is an official source port of Duke Nukem 3D, similar to what Shadow Warrior Classic Redux is to Shadow Warrior Classic Complete. It includes the base game, the Plutonium PAK, Duke it Out in D.C., Duke Caribbean: Life’s a Beach and Duke: Nuclear Winter. Megaton Edition was delisted from Steam in 2015, replaced by Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour, a new source port including a new fifth episode, Alien World Order. World Tour is exclusive to Steam, so there is no way to play Duke Nukem 3D on GOG.

In 2002, Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project was released, a spin-off with gameplay closer to the original side-scrolling games, albeit with 3D graphics. Manhattan Project essentially sees the return of Dr Proton, though as a different character named Mech Morphix. Morphix is causing havoc thanks to his radioactive slime, GLOPP, which is making mutant creatures pop up all over the place. The game was available on GOG and on Steam, as well as in Steam’s The Duke Nukem Platformer Pack. It received Xbox 360 port in 2010, and an iOS port in 2013, but the PC versions were delisted from both GOG and Steam during the Great Delisting of 2015.

After this, we got Duke Nukem Forever. Bleugh. However, ZOOM Platform is the only place to get the whole Duke Nukem Classics Collection, along with extra goodies! Duke Nukem I and II are available. Duke Nukem 3D comes with the base game, the Plutonium PAK, Duke it Out in D.C., Duke Caribbean: Life’s a Beach, Duke: Nuclear Winter, Duke!ZONE I/II, and Duke Nukem’s Penthouse Paradise (Duke It’s Zero Hour is in the works too). Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project also comes with the official level editor, and the classic 2001 trailer for what could have been the great Duke Nukem Forever. Plus, all four of the Duke games are on sale (25%) until the 17th! There’s no excuse not to get them. This wasn't one of my normal types of posts, just a quick announcement, but I do have some more stuff planned, most likely Duke-related as I've had to put PSP on hold. Well, keep on Duking and Nuking, that’s a wrap on THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM!

This Blog is Now a Two-Year-Old Child!

Welcome back to THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM! Today (what's left of it) is a special day, because it's this blog's SECOND BIRTHDAY! Ya-HOOOOO! We have made it two years thus far, and almost 100 posts. This is a landmark situation and I am so glad that this blog is now more than a bit old. Now, I've been quite busy today (including playing Driver: San Francisco), and I haven't prepared anything superb, but I did make this little poster in PowerPoint that you can print out if you're that desperate (it's A4, so no need to change dimensions for casual printing):

I know that I haven't been posting many stories recently, and my Starport stuff is, how do I put this, eh at the current stage, but I'm going to be optimistic, have zen with my body and my mind, and push to do some... stuff... I guess... Oh well, COVID's horrible, life is a lackluster low-budget ride in some instances, and the world could do better, but right now I'm going to sit back and eat this blog's imaginary birthday cake. Well, that's a wrap on THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM!

Happy Birthday Chronicles of Humanity!

Welcome back to THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM! As you may know, there have been a lot of birthdays recently, and guess what? There's another! Today marks the 15TH ANNIVERSARY of Damien Valentine's CHRONICLES OF HUMANITY! Just some back info for those of you who don't know about this show: Chronicles of Humanity is a webseries that became idea somewhere around the time that Damien Valentine (a.k.a. Darth Angelus) had made the machinima remake of his 2002 Star Wars fan-film, Falling into Darkness. The series began with a short by the name of "The Titan Incident", and soon developed into a machinima webseries. It was "upgraded" in 2009 using the Moviestorm software, and another short, "Alone" was produced. In 2011, the first season was remade using Moviestorm, and two sequels, "Uprising" and "Renegades", were released. During 2015 and 2016, a fourth part, "Redemption", was released, finishing off the overall storyline and in 2017 a remastered version of "Alone" was produced. Now, on the 31st of October, 2020, Chronicles of Humanity celebrates its 15th anniversary! Yay! You can go to Damien Valentine's channel here to view all of his CoH, Star Wars and other videos/movies, including his amazing current Heir to the Empire adaptation. Woo hoo! It's all totally cool (Other than the fact that LiveJournal's birthday was just a few months back... I never knew I was using a rip-off...)! Anyhow, I just thought that I had to post a post posting about the posting thing I use to post posts. Yeah, happy birthday Blogger! Another Birthday!

Welcome back to THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM! As I have been hinting at in previous posts, it is this blog's FIRST BIRTHDAY! Yay! Yub nub! Yub nub, eee chop yub nub; Ah toe mee toe pee chee keene; G'noop dock fling oh ah! So, I don't have anything much, but I made a small little poster:

Yes, I am Vader's Sith Master in an alternate reality in which Vader gives people birthday cakes. Oh, and yes, that sadly means that I will be killed by Vader in this reality. Kinda sad. Anyway, it's my blog's birthday. Yay again! Nothing big, but it's been a year, so that's great. My gift to any readers: go here! I didn't make anything on it, but it's a page on the Biomedia Project with LOADS of amazing stuff to look through. Plus, there's a whole section for LEGO, with games, comics, and much more. So, that's that and yeah. Well, that's a wrap on THE BIRTHDAY OF THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM!

Late Birthday Gifts to Myself!

Welcome back to THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM! As I covered in a recent post, it was my birthday on the 23rd of May. Of course, COVID-19 came and then my birthday was a meh birthday. Sadly, during the COVID crisis many of my favourite places aren't doing that well, or have closed. Permanently. This includes my local DVD and games shop, so that's quite sad. Luckily, the DVD and games shop near my local comic shop is still open, so I went there and spent money on entertainment. First, I got Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season One on DVD. I have really been hoping to get this, and I finally did. I was blown away by it, and I am grasping tight to my wad of cash to spend on the next season of MAOS. Next on the list are Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. These are the last two films that I needed to complete my Phase One collection. I had already seen the Cap film (on an 8 o'clock film slot on TV) but Thor I haven't. Until about 20 minutes ago. So now my MCU Reading Order stats are fully complete for Phase One. Yay! Third are a few LEGO films. I love to collect LEGO-related things, even more than the sets themselves, i.e. comics, books, games and films. This lead me to buy LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League and LEGO Hero Factory: Rise of the Rookies. Both of these are amazing and have just as good DVD extras, the DC one including a look into the character of Bizarro, a TV special and an in-universe blooper reel to go along with the TV special, while the Hero Factory DVD includes a TV special based on LEGO's Atlantis sets. One more DVD left in my Hero Factory collection, three more in my LEGO DC collection. Finally, I also bought the DVD of Cars Toon: Mater's Tall Tales. Like LEGO, I love finding all things World of Cars. I have the DVDs for Cars, Cars 2, Planes, Planes: Fire and Rescue, and now Mater's Tall Tales. I also have recently found the LEGO Grand Prix game online (on a website called "BioMedia Project", which is dedicated to finding all things Bionicle-related. There's also a lot of LEGO stuff on there. I'll do a Fandom Favourites post on it soon.), and am trying to get the Cars comic books. Oh, I mustn't forget the other games. I have the Cars 2 game, Mater's Tall Tales game and the Planes game on PC. However, I hated Cars 3 and I always skip it. So yeah, those are my late birthday presents to myself. Well, that's a wrap on THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM!

Birthdays, Books and [Can't Think of Anything Relevant Beginning With B]

Welcome back to THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM! Okay, so I've been doing quite a bit lately. A lot of this has been towards my original work, i.e. writing up chapters of the Starport stories, but I've also been doing Star Wars (and other cool)-related stuff. First off, Fandom is on Fandom! Yay! You can find my Fandom profile on the Fandom Community Central here. The funny thing is, just after I joined, Tython Awakening asked if I'm affiliated with Fandom. I'm not surprised, because, um, well, Fandom's in the name. And yes. Darth Fandom is on the Star Wars Fanon Wiki! Go here to see what I've done so far. Right now, it's just a small page because I don't want to reveal too much until Chronicles of Telian Aieler comes out. Next off, I've been doing some LEGO stuff. I'm thinking of buying LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, so I thought I could get some material before I [might] get it. So, first thing that came to mind was the LEGO sets. Uh, yeah, sorry me but IT'S COVID, so no sets, but before I continue, guess what? I forgot to put a post on here on my birthday! My birthday! Well, my birthday was on the 23rd of May, like last year, and the year before, and the year before, and, well, all the times before. I'll try not to forget next year. So, I got a few pressies, so that's nice. To be precise, Star Wars: Legacy Volume II - Book 1-3, a small little Hot Wheels car, a very cool LEGO Iron Man Mech and a limited edition chocolate bar, because why not.

Anyway, back to LEGO, because my birthday is not as important. Maybe. Well, I couldn't get sets, so the next thing I thought was LEGO comics. I actually had three (you could say four, because one of them had two comics inside) in physical form, but it seems that I'm cursed, as after I bought them, LEGO Marvel comics ceased to exist. So, I began my quest the other day to find them online. So here's a little trick I found, which you can do too to get digital editions of the comics. Don't worry, it's legal since it goes through LEGO's official website. No piracy included. First, go to this link on BrickLink. Whenever there's a Marvel comic that appears and has a code beginning with the number 6 somewhere in brackets, make a not of it. Next, go onto your browser and type in "lego.com/biassets/bi/". Once you've typed this in, type in a code with ".pdf" after it and hit enter. Then, a PDF file of the comic you want to read will appear. From doing this, I've managed to get every LEGO Marvel comic that's appeared in a set (I say in a set because I haven't found any LEGO Club issues but two or any SDCC Exclusives), and I'm happy about that. I personally like comic #6037284 as it ends on a cliffhanger where ol' JJJ is covered in the Venom symbiote. What will happen exit? Ah, I dunno. I'm currently also trying the same with the DC Comic ones, but I haven't been too successful. Some comics aren't online. But I'll still keep trying.

So, I've covered quite a bit in this post. I'm quite happy about that. Now, before I go, are you a fan of Marvel Comics? Okay, well, are you also a fan of Deadpool? If so, I recommend reading the Deadpool #SecretComic. It's pretty cool. It covers all sorts of things, from Clea's affair with Benjamin Franklin to Deadpool massacring the Time Variance Authority to The Divorce of Deadpool #798, Marvel's first $99 comic book. Amazing. To read it go onto the Marvel Wiki and look at all variant covers from Deadpool (Vol.4) #1 up until Despicable Deadpool #296. Some issues don't have "Secret Comic Variant Cover"s but if they don't just go to the next issue. Another thing I just feel like saying is that Marvel's The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes! is a pretty cool animated series. Sadly it was canned. Which means that there won't be a Season 3. Or a bigger plot around Galactus. Or him eating Hala. [Crying sounds] Well, sob, that's a wrap on THE SITH ARCHIVES OF DARTH FANDOM!
